HYPED TO THE MAX: THE NEW QUEEN: LADY GAGA

So I think it's about time to declare Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta aka LADY GAGA as the new Queen of Pop. Although Gaga had a bit of a slow start, including getting dropped from her first record contract, she has blown past her competition and is breaking music records left and right.

Discovered by music star (and fan thrower) Akon, Lady Gaga released her debut CD, The Fame, on August 2008.  Although first single, Just Dance, took a long time to catch on, it eventually became a worldwide hit and laid the way for every single one of Gaga's songs to top the charts! Poker Face followed after and unlike Just Dance it stormed up the charts, eventually hitting number one in the US and 20 other countries! During this time Gaga toured with the Pussycat Dolls and then her first headlining tour in March 2009.

A year later, Gaga released The Fame Monster, an eight song CD dealing with the bad side of fame which she compared to a monster. First single, Bad Romance, with its catchy beat and lyrics and controversial music video, also became a worldwide hit, but only hit #2 on the Billboard Top 100 chart. With the success of the album, Gaga quickly announced her Monster's Ball Tour which was met with great success and was sold out in almost all markets. Telephone, a duet with Beyonce, also topped the charts but is best known for its innovative and again controversial music video which featured transvestite prison guards, poisoning of restaurant patrons and some nudity. New single, Alejandro, is already starting to garner attention and is poised to join Gaga's other singles at the top of the charts.
