Lost Complete Season

So by the end of August, the COMPLETE series of Lost will be out on Blu Ray and DVD? Does anyone know where the cheapest place to purchase it is? So far I have found Amazon is the cheapest, but would love to hear if I'm missing anything!

BREAKING NEWS: First Major Country Artist Comes Out of the Closet! Chely Wright!

Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of speculation as to which country star would be coming out of the closet this week...well look no further...the lesbian country singer is, according to gossip site TMZ...CHELY WRIGHT!

Wright has had a number one hit with 'Single White Female' and has even been romantically linked to hunky country singer Brad Paisley.

The country crooner made headlines a few years back for her song, 'Bumper of My SUV' because it was alleged that members of her fanclub were posing as US military/vets and requesting the song to radio (to increase radio airplay). The claim has not been substantiated but as soon as this theory was discussed, radio play for this single completely vanished.

The 39 year old singer is the first country artist to come out. Of course the timing of this announcement coincides with Chely Wright's new CD (Lifted Off the Ground) and book (Like Me) (links below).

MAJOR HYPE: Piranha 3D Trailer released!

One of the most anticipated 3D movies to be released this year, Piranha 3D, has just released its full trailer. The movie, which stars Elisabeth Shue and a bevy of bikini beauties and a whole lot of piranhas, is set to be released this August.

Hyped to be one of the bloodiest movies of all time and based on the wicked trailer, this movie looks to be the guilty pleasure of summer films.

Justin Bieber invited to strip club by Slash!

So it looks like when Slash and tween sensation Justin Bieber bumped into each other last weekend in Sydney, Australia, Slash made a shocking proposition....

According to reports, when the two stars met, Bieber suggested going for dinner together while Slash wanted to take Bieber to a STRIP CLUB!

Slash was quoted as saying, "I told him, I said maybe me and the Mrs. will take you to a strip bar. But that didn't happen 'cause his minder told me that he's got a curfew and he's with his mom."

I'm sure this was all in fun given that the 16 year old would not even be allowed into a strip club!

Gizmodo computers SEIZED! The iPhone saga continues...

An update to my earlier article on the iPhone leak (found here: http://hypeheist.blogspot.com/2010/04/major-hype-unreleased-apple-iphone-leak.html).

It looks like police have seized the computer of one of Gawker Media's employees. Gawker (which owns Gizmodo blog) employee, Jason Chen's home computer was taken on Friday, April 26 by local police in a potential closer look into the recent iPhone leak.

What's interesting about this development is that Gawker claims this act violates California's journalism law. So this bears the question: should bloggers be treated the same as journalists? Looks like in this case, they aren't.

Gizmodo, who bought the unreleased iPhone for 5K, could also be in legal trouble for buying stolen property (if indeed the phone was stolen). The web site has since returned the iPhone to Apple but it looks like the troubles could just be starting.

Canadian Idol judge Sass Jordan comments on Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia

In a recent interview with Long Live Rock (on Blog Talk Radio), Canadian Idol judge, Sass Jordan commented on a wide-range of topics, including American/Canadian Idol; the good and the bad of Idol; living with Idol creator, Simon Fuller, before he was famous; being wooed by Kiss lead singer Gene Simmons; and her opinion on some of the American Idol winners, including Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Fantasia.

Since I know the above ladies have a lot of fans, I have transcribed what Sass had to say about them. I took out some of the 'ums' and misc comments. If you know anything about Sass, she loves to talk and laugh, so I did my best! If you want to listen to the entire interview, it's a great listen to learn about the ins and outs of a music career, as well as the Idol franchise. You can hear it here: Sass Jordan interview

As promised, here's the blurb:

Sass: Occasionally, once in a blue moon, somebody will break through all that and actually connect at such a visceral level that they can gain new fans and they can keep the old ones. For example, C arrie Underwood, who also, I must say it was so well set up and she chose the right path by going the country path, it’s perfect. Everything was perfect, it makes complete sense....then there is Kelly, who is actually in my opinion...Kelly, all I can think of is Ripa, for god sakes, what’s her last name? She’s the first idol..Kelly something...it sucks cause she’s AWESOME but I can’t...
Host: Clarkson! You’re thinking of Kelly Clarkson...
Sass: Yes it is! Kelly Clarkson! Kelly Clarkson is truly fantastic. She’s truly a fantastic singer and also Fantasia. Fantasia and Kelly Clarkson these gals I thought were pretty spectacular.
In case you're interested in seeing more from Sass, here's a link to her website: http://www.sassjordan.com/ and her new CD: From Dusk Til Dawn (link to my review of the CD: http://hypeheist.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-music-review-sass-jordan-from-dusk.html )

MAJOR HYPE: New Eclipse trailer posted!

Here you go Twihards! The newest Eclipse trailer...looks good! What do you think?

Survivor Villain Russell Hantz ARRESTED

Survivor's dominant villain over the past two seasons and potentially the greatest villain (maybe even player?) of all time, Russell Hantz, has been arrested in Lafayette, Louisiana on Friday. According to gossip site TMZ, Hantz was arrested for attacking a person at the Festival International de Louisiane.

Looks like Hantz allegedly pushed another party goer to the ground and the police quickly handcuffed Hantz and took him away. Hantz was eventually released.

Guess it's not easy being a villain...I wonder if he was getting some taunting from the crowd? Hantz is still competing as a Villian contestant on this season of Survivor's Heroes vs. Villains.

MAJOR HYPE: UNRELEASED APPLE iPHONE LEAK!!

Wow...I'm sure Apple is freaking out right about now, but technology blog, Gizmodo, somehow has an unreleased, FOURTH generation Apple iPhone! It looks like someone from Apple misplaced the iPhone and now it's in Gizmodo's hands!

You can take a rare look at this phone here:

There is some talk that Apple might have leaked the phone as a marketing tactic to increase its HYPE. Hard to say but somehow I don't think even Apple could have predicted the hysteria this lost found has started. Watching the video though does get me even more excited to pick it up....once it's available.

Here is an update to this article: http://hypeheist.blogspot.com/2010/04/update-to-my-earlier-article-on-iphone.html

HYPED TO THE MAX: THE NEW QUEEN: LADY GAGA

So I think it's about time to declare Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta aka LADY GAGA as the new Queen of Pop. Although Gaga had a bit of a slow start, including getting dropped from her first record contract, she has blown past her competition and is breaking music records left and right.

Discovered by music star (and fan thrower) Akon, Lady Gaga released her debut CD, The Fame, on August 2008.  Although first single, Just Dance, took a long time to catch on, it eventually became a worldwide hit and laid the way for every single one of Gaga's songs to top the charts! Poker Face followed after and unlike Just Dance it stormed up the charts, eventually hitting number one in the US and 20 other countries! During this time Gaga toured with the Pussycat Dolls and then her first headlining tour in March 2009.

A year later, Gaga released The Fame Monster, an eight song CD dealing with the bad side of fame which she compared to a monster. First single, Bad Romance, with its catchy beat and lyrics and controversial music video, also became a worldwide hit, but only hit #2 on the Billboard Top 100 chart. With the success of the album, Gaga quickly announced her Monster's Ball Tour which was met with great success and was sold out in almost all markets. Telephone, a duet with Beyonce, also topped the charts but is best known for its innovative and again controversial music video which featured transvestite prison guards, poisoning of restaurant patrons and some nudity. New single, Alejandro, is already starting to garner attention and is poised to join Gaga's other singles at the top of the charts.

Did you know...about LADY GAGA?
  • Winner of two Grammy awards for Best Dance Recording (Poker Face) and Best Dance Album (The Fame)
  • On December 11, 2009, she met Queen Elizabeth II and sang the song Speechless at the 2009 Royal Variety Performance
  • Influenced by iconic artists such as Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie and Queen
  • Has written songs for the Pussycat Dolls, Adam Lambert, New Kids on the Block and Fergie
  • Picked the name Lady Gaga from a Queen song called Radio Ga Ga
  • Is good friends with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton

STILL HYPED: KELLY CLARKSON: THE EVOLUTION OF AN IDOL

So now that American Idol is in full swing and really the talent so far hasn't been great (except for Michael and Crystal), I thought it's time to look back at the first ever American Idol winner (I wonder if she ever gets tired of being called that). KELLY CLARKSON!

The almost 28 year old singer has spent the last decade dominating the music scene since her first hit A Moment Like This. Clarkson was lucky in the fact that she was given a winner's song that was actually half decent and of course she added her talent to make it her own.  In October 2002, Clarkson set a record on the most influential music chart, Billboard Top 100, when Moment jumped from # 52 to #1 in one week.

As winner of American Idol, Clarkson was then 'forced' to compete in the hokey World Idol in London, England which pit other Idol winners from across the globe against each other in another singing competition. Clarkson did finish second but the concept for the show was greatly criticized and never held again.

Kelly Clarkson has a career that a singer can only dream of. She has loyal fans that continue to support her tours around the world (as of this writing Clarkson just wrapped up a successful South African tour) and analyze and discuss almost every morsel that leaves her witty mouth.

Below is a quick summary of Clarkson`s CDs:

ALBUMS
Thankful - 2003
  • Debuted at #1 in the US
  • Certified double platinum (US)
  • Lead single Miss Independent reached top 10 in Canada/US/UK/Australia and earned Clarkson a Grammy nomination in Best Female Pop Performance
  • Released Low and Trouble with Love but both performed poorly

Breakaway - 2004
  • Only the fourth album in history to stay in the Billboard 200 Top 20 for a consecutive year
  • Certified six times platinum (US)
  • Singles, Breakaway, Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because of You, Walk Away all became huge worldwide hits
  • Clarkson received her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Female Performance and also won a second award for Best Pop Vocal Album

My December - 2007
  • Debuted at #2 but this album is generally considered a flop by Clarkson standards and forced Clarkson to re-evaluate the direction of her music and career
  •  First single, titled Never Again, peaked at #8, but is the only hit song of the CD
  • Clarkson parted with her management, The Firm, on June 11, 2007
  • On June 14, 2007, it was announced that Clarkson's summer tour—her first nationwide arena tour—had been canceled due to low ticket sales and was moved to smaller venues
  • Certified platinum (US)

All I Ever Wanted - 2009
  • First single, My Life Would Suck Without You, zoomed from #97 to #1 and broke the record of biggest jump to the top spot (previously held by Britney Spears, Womanizer)
  • Also reached #1 in the UK
  • CD also debuted at number 1 in the US
  • Clarkson was nominated for Best Pop Album Grammy

Kelly Clarkson facts...did you know?
  • One of Clarkson's idols is country singer Reba McEntire, whom she sang Because of You with
  • The duet resulted in Clarkson being nominated for ACM, CMA and a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duet
  • Clarkson has sold over 23 million CDs worldwide
  • Before American  Idol, Kelly appeared on Sabrina the Teenage Witch as an extra
  • Nickname is Kellbelle
  • Loves to perform barefoot
  • Will be a part of the 2010 tour of Lilith Fair
  • Is of Greek, Welsh, and Irish descent

    Movie Review: Alice in Wonderland

So I FINALLY went and saw Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp, and I gotta say it was pretty good. Usually when a movie is so HYPED up, I am disappointed...but Alice lived up to the HYPE HEIST for sure!
So in a nutshull, Alice returns to Wonderland (actually now called Underland)and meets the crazy cast of characters that she first saw during her time in Wonderland, including the Cheshire Cat, White Rabbt, Madhatter and the Red Queen.

Standouts include Depp's performance as the green-eyed crazy Madhatter. As typical with Depp, he makes the character his own and steals every scene he is in.

    Did you know...
    • This is Depp's SEVENTH time working with Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton
    • This is the first Tim Burton film to not have opening credits
    • Former pro wrestler, The Rock, was once considered for the Madhatter role
    • In the opening minutes of the film, there is a shot of the moon, on which the Cheshire Cat's face is briefly visible
    • The movie has grossed over 300 million in the US and Canada alone

HYPED UP TO THE MAX: JUSTIN BIEBER

      Do you know Justin Bieber?

Well the first thing you need to know is how to pronounce Bieber...it’s BEE-BER...and given how Bieber has exploded on the internet and helped rejuvenate the slugging record industry, you better know how to say his name!
Although often hated on by traditional music fans because Bieber is only 16 and sings pop songs, you have to give mad props to Bieber for being instrumental in getting signed to a major record label and having some of the biggest artists in the music business literally begging for him to sign with them.
Here is one of the videos that Justin posted to YouTube which has garned over 16 MILLION views already:

      Deal of the Week

WestJet has a great deal this week...there are a lot of $72 seats on sale across Canada...I have passed this deal onto some friends who quickly booked a trip to beautiful Vancouver...hurry though the offer ends SOON!

      http://www.westjet.com/guest/en/travelOffers/seatSale3.shtml?s_cid=TWITTER_Internal_72HourSeatSale_20100406_GuestEN

I have to say one thing about WestJet...they have very comfortable seats, great TVs in every chair and most of all amazing customer service both on the ground and up in the air. I always check with WestJet first when booking a flight.

      Still Hyped: SURVIVOR

The granddaddy of all reality shows...SURVIVOR has been on the air for 20 seasons and is going stronger than ever. If you have been watching you know that this season is called Heroes vs. Villians, which brings back some of Survivor's favorite and most hated stars.
With household names like Boston Rob, Russel, Colby and Jerri returning the hype is definitely still with the show BUT there are some major players missing from this season:
Richard Hatch, Season 1 (unavailable for filming due to his prison stint)

Tina Wesson, Season 2 (one of the best female strategic players ever AND the winner of the most watched season of Survivor AND an unknown fact but Wesson has appeared on more magazine covers than any other Survivor contestant)
Just noticed that Tina has a book out that I'll have to buy! Out Live, Out Laugh, Out Love

Johnny Fairplay, Season 7: Hate him or love him there's no denying that Fairplay is one of the best bad guys ever.

Billboard Top 200- USHER lands at number 1

With first week sales of almost 330,000 units sold, Usher's Raymond vs Raymond hits the number one spot on the Billboard music chart. He bumps his protege, Canadian teen sensation, Justin Bieber's My World 2.0 to the number 2 spot...although Bieber won't have to cry too long...a little birdy told me that next week Bieber will return to the top spot.

      The remaining numbers include:
      3) Various Artists – Now 33 – 122,778 (After 2 weeks – 257,945)

      Other Debuts
      4) Erykah Badu – New Amerykah Part Two – 110,082
      7) Alan Jackson – Freight Train – 72,411
      12) Method Man, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon – Wu Massacare – 37,931
      23) Barenaked Ladies – All In Good Time – 23,234
      26) Various Artists – Radio Disney Jams 12 – 22,472
      34) Gretchen Wilson – I Got Your Country Right Here – 14,753
      41) Amy Grant – Somewhere Down The Road – 13,310
      47) E-40 – Revenue Retrievin’: Day Shift – 11,983
      49) E-40 – Revenue Retrievin’: Night Shift – 11,865
