Gizmodo computers SEIZED! The iPhone saga continues...

An update to my earlier article on the iPhone leak (found here: http://hypeheist.blogspot.com/2010/04/major-hype-unreleased-apple-iphone-leak.html).

It looks like police have seized the computer of one of Gawker Media's employees. Gawker (which owns Gizmodo blog) employee, Jason Chen's home computer was taken on Friday, April 26 by local police in a potential closer look into the recent iPhone leak.

What's interesting about this development is that Gawker claims this act violates California's journalism law. So this bears the question: should bloggers be treated the same as journalists? Looks like in this case, they aren't.

Gizmodo, who bought the unreleased iPhone for 5K, could also be in legal trouble for buying stolen property (if indeed the phone was stolen). The web site has since returned the iPhone to Apple but it looks like the troubles could just be starting.
